Ohio OCEA Award Winner - 2012

The Main Street Bridge, Columbus, Ohio, 2012

Location: Columbus, Franklin County

Nominated by: James Siebert, P.E., DLZ Ohio, Inc.

Description: The replacement of the Main Street Bridge over the Scioto River is a distinctive structure featuring an inclined arch and separate pedestrian and vehicle decks.  This 660 foot long bridge is the first of its kind in the United States.  The project is honored not just for its unique design, but also for the challenges that were met to reduce cost while maintaining its architectural character, and for the benefits that will flow to the public from reconnecting the Franklinton community with Columbus’s vibrant downtown.
